Melting Pot Jazz
Melting Pot Jazz is an annual series of five free, family-friendly concerts in June celebrating immigrants’ influence on American jazz. Concerts take place on the lawn at St. Frances Cabrini Shrine in Washington Heights, or indoors if it rains.
Each week features an ensemble blending jazz with music from different world cultures. Past concerts have explored African, Cuban, Peruvian, Mexican, Dominican, Puerto Rican, Balkan, Slavic, Indian, Israeli, Yiddish, Middle Eastern, and Japanese influences on the jazz idiom.
Bring picnics, blankets, chairs, and the whole family.
